Nokia 5800

It's interesting that Nokia decided to put its first touchscreen interface in a mass market mobile phone rather than in one of its premium Nseries multimedia devices. In any case, here it is, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic complete with the Finnish company's latest user interface (UI).

And big is by no means limited to size. Indeed, the handset does come out a little too hefty but the feature pack is the kind to make you forget about size. The massive screen and so-unlike-WinMo multimedia skills give HTC Touch HD the kind of crossover appeal to reach beyond the hardcore PocketPC following.

Nokia 8800 Gold Arte

The latest piece of art in the Arte lineup appeared at Nokia website without a proper introduction from the manufacturer. The new Nokia 8800 Gold Arte follows on the Nokia 8800 Carbon Arte but adds quite some luxury and tackiness to the package. The functionality remains identical, but you know - when it comes to Arte, plain technical capabilities just don't tell the whole story.
The main selling point of the new Nokia 8800 Gold Arte is the 18-carat gold plating and the high
quality white genuine leather.
The Nokia 8800 Gold Arte has no other secrets as everything else is inherited by the 8800 Carbon Arte. And like it, the Gold Arte packs a 2" QVGA OLED display with 16 M colors, 4GB on board memory (non-upgradable as there`s no memory card slot) and 3.2-megapixel autofocus snapper.
The accelerometer-based features such as tap-for-time and turn-to-mute are also available as before

Nokia N97

The Nokia N97 is most definitely one of the most loaded N-series devices out there, but that's not it's all about. The N97 is the first high-end device powered by the latest touchscreen Symbians S60 OS. And if the 3.5-inch touchscreen display is not enough for you, you can always slide-and-tilt it up so the large full QWERTY keyboard gets revealed.

Tri-band HSDPA and quad-band GSM ensure world wide roaming, but the new Nokia N97 also boasts 32GB of internal memory, a 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, GPS, touch-enabled Nokia Maps with a digital compass, an accelerometer for auto screen rotation and a proximity sensor for auto screen turn-off during calls.
The 16M color 3.5-inch touchscreen TFT display has a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels that should meet all your handheld widescreen multimedia needs. Of course all the basics are covered too - with stereo Bluetooth, 3.5mm audio jack, TV-out and FM radio with RDS.

As you can imagine the loaded Nokia N97 is quite hefty - it weighs 150 g, but size-wise it's not bigger than say, the Apple iPhone 3G (except in thickness, that is).
The Nokia N97 will be available in Q2 2009, at an estimated price of 550 euro before subsidies and taxes.

Nokia N98-Yet To Be Released

Fitted with a 7.2 mega pixel camera that includes Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus and built-in Xenon flash, the Nokia N98 camera even supports 8x optical zoom and 40x digital zoom.
With this in mind, the 3.5 inch 540 x 480 VGA touch screen is perfect for viewing and editing images or browsing online, editing text and replying to emails.
Videos on the other hand are recorded at 60fps with a resolution of 720 x 576 and include 5x optical zoom and 20x digital zoom functions.

Apart from the impressive camera onboard, the Nokia N98 is a Symbian S70 3rd Edition that offers WiFi Capabilities and HSDPA 3G support for high speed internet connections plus Bluetooth Wireless with A2DP stereo support.
The integrated GPS satellite navigation system is great for getting you home and away from long traffic jams whilst the Music Player and Stereo FM Radio with RDS will happily keep you entertained and up to date with the latest breaking news.
Although there is a lot to be said for all the highly advanced features of the Nokia N98 there is one very interesting feature that worth being highlighted and that is the 3D Graphics Accelerator, ideal for gaming.
With all its capabilities one has to wonder what the memory capacity is of the Nokia N98? But with 8GB of internal memory and optional expansion, they’ve definitely not been stingy.
The Nokia N98 even boasts a French TNT digitial TV receiver which will no doubt appeal if you happen to find yourself somewhere within the french boarder.
But as with all N Series handsets, the Nokia N98 is of course a smartphone and as such carries essential business tools such as PIM including calendar, to do list and printing, plus a document viewerand integrated handsfree.

Motorola VE66 with 5 MP Camera

Yesterday Motorola announced their second 5MP phone - the slider VE66. The other highlight feature is the Wi-Fi connectivity. Most of the specifications that were rumored when images of the phone leaked about 1 month ago were confirmed by the press release issued by the American company today.
Running on the Linux OS Montavista v2.6.10, Motorola VE66 comes with a 2.2" 256K color TFT display and a quick Freescale SCM-A11 500MHz processor.
The 5MP autofocus camera can also record video with QVGA resolution, but unlike the Motorola ZN5 it won't carry the Kodak branding. The cam phone also has Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP and microSD card slot.
There will be two versions of the Motorola VE66 - the first one will have quad-band GSM/EDGE support and no 3G (for the Chinese market) and the second version will support UMTS and HSDPA. In fact the 3G support is the only major difference (aside from the phone factor) between the Motorola VE66 and the ZN5.
Motorola VE66 also comes with the FastScroll touch-sensitive navigation wheel, which according to the manufacturer should allow you to browse through menus and content with improved speed and accuracy.
The Motorola VE66 is expected to hit the shelves until the end of the year but the price is yet to be disclosed.
